Data Protection

The Data Protection Act 1998 will be replaced by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as from 25th May 2018. This is an EU regulation so may change again when Brexit is implemented. Until then The Forum has a legal and moral duty to protect the data of members and must work within the remit of the GDPR.

The Act covers the storage and use of “Personal Data” i.e. any information held by organisations relating to any individual person – e.g. telephone number, email address, home address – whether stored electronically or in paper form.

As long as a Club or Association reasonably considers the storage of Personal Data to be relevant and non-excessive, they can continue to hold it.

The Forum only holds information about members who have asked to be advised of Forum activities and progress.

The information is held securely and is not divulged to any third parties.

If you wish to know more about the way your personal information is protected or if you wish to have your name removed from the list, then please get in touch.
